Did you know that approximately 3% of the population possesses a trait known as Aphantasia? This isn't a disorder, illness, or limitation; rather, it's a neurological trait where individuals cannot create mental images.
I fall into that 3%. This means I cannot visualize anything at all; when I close my eyes, no images materialize. If you ask me to envision an apple, I cannot. Yet, I can eloquently describe every detail about it: the hues, the weight, the taste and texture, how and where it flourishes, and the appearance of its tree and leaves. My mind resembles a file cabinet brimming with information, devoid of visuals.
Those with Aphantasia often find themselves drawn to the realms of the scientific community or professions entwined with numbers. For me, the absence of imagery proves more advantageous than obstructive in nurturing my creativity. I concentrate on engaging various senses, aiming to captivate readers who may not envision scenes as vividly as watching a film in their minds.
I'm intrigued to learn more...
